Happy Camping in Hershey

Posted on

We, the people, are part of a rich tradition of camping that spans back to the early days when nomadic tribes would travel out of necessity for food, resources, and better climates. This tradition continued as explorers and settlers camped as they moved into new territories. In the late 19th century, camping began to gain popularity as a leisure activity. With the rise of automobile ownership in the early 20th century, families could travel farther and camp more comfortably with their vehicles. In the mid-20th century, we saw the development of commercial campgrounds with amenities, making camping accessible to a broader audience. Camping is more than just a fun, recreational activity; the health benefits alone are boundless. Basking in the great outdoors not only reduces stress and anxiety but can also help alleviate depression. It provides a chance to reconnect with family and friends and offers a break from digital distractions like phones and TVs. Getting away from all the hustle and bustle of life allows you to relax and mentally rejuvenate. It can be a holistic experience that will nurture your body and soul. It has also become a way of life for some. It’s not just for retired folks, either! With the ability to work remotely, people of all ages have fallen in love with the full-time lifestyle of RVing.

Hershey RV showSo why are we at the Inn on Church Road writing about camping? Because we want to invite you to check out the 55th Annual Hershey America’s Largest RV Show®, a unique event that will take place September 11-15 at the Giant Center. The Pennsylvania Recreational Vehicle & Camping Association (PRVCA), based in Camp Hill, PA, presents the show. PRVCA represents nearly 400 RV dealers, manufacturers, campgrounds, and affiliated members interested in expanding and improving Pennsylvania’s RV and camping industry. They expect to have approximately 1,500 new RVs on display from more than 35 manufacturers. This type of show differs from your typical RV event in that the manufacturers are on-site with the dealers to answer your questions and discuss the RV’s features. They can also help you secure a deal and even assist you with financing. ACT Trailers, Great Outdoor Cottages, and Storyteller Overland are the exciting new manufacturers onsite this year. In addition to all the amazing RVs you can wander through, more than 175 booth vendors will offer accessories, parts, products, and services: camping and recreation equipment, campgrounds, and vacation destinations! And don’t miss the chance to meet RV content creators who will be on hand for meet-and-greet sessions with you this year. In addition to all of that, they will be offering daily seminars on topics such as full-time RVing, maintenance, boondocking, RVing in retirement, insurance, and much more!

The Giant Center concessions will be open, and food trucks are outside, so you will not go hungry while you browse. They offer special discount days for healthcare professionals, seniors, veterans, and first responders. Children under 12 can attend for free, and parking is also free! Proceeds from the show go back into the industry to support education. You will want to buy your tickets in advance, so please visit their website for more information. The show is designed to be convenient and affordable, ensuring that you can fully enjoy the experience without any worries.

More than 45,000 people from all over the world attended the show last year, so don’t wait to book your stay! The Inn on Church Road would love to reserve one of our five luxury rooms as a home away from home during your visit. After a good night’s sleep in one of our plush beds and feasting on one of our delicious gourmet breakfasts made from scratch, you will be fully prepared for an exciting day of exploring the RV show. We will happily provide you with information on local restaurants and cafes based on your specific needs and recommend other activities in the area should you decide to extend your stay. Whether you are a seasoned camper or a novice who is just curious, we hope you will come and experience all that Hershey has to offer!
