Delve into our tranquil retreat

A unique history. Unforgettable lodging.

Established 1821

The Inn has deep roots in our local community and is steeped in a rich history. The Inn’s origins trace back to 1821 when it was constructed by Arthur Fishburn, bearing the name ‘Fishburn Property’ during that era. Thanks to Mr. Fishburn, we now have The Inn and some of his original work can still be found throughout the property.

The Original Deed

The Inn is steeped in history, and the original deed stands as further testament to this fact. Originally signed in 1798 by James Wilson, the property later transformed into what we know as The Fishburn Property. James Wilson was one of America’s founding fathers and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

A Cherished Gift

Presently, the property is under the stewardship of Dan and Hannah Smith, marking them as only the fourth set of proprietors entrusted with its care. Brimming with pride and enthusiasm, they are dedicated to upholding the heritage of this historic estate. Their efforts have manifested in a meticulous renovation that has transformed the property into a sanctuary of luxury accommodations, offering visitors the chance to experience beautiful stays while conveniently situated just two miles away from Hershey Town Square.

A Window Into the Past

The initial stonework from the property’s inaugural construction remains on display for your observation during your visit at The Inn. The exterior foundation and structure are all original, showcasing the craftsmanship and care that went into the initial construction of the home. A stay at The Inn offers a glimpse through a historical lens, providing a vivid portrayal of bygone eras.

Meet Dan & Hannah Smith

Our Story

Dan and Hannah Smith purchased the Fishburn residence and its surrounding land during the fall of 2018. Almost immediately, the concept of establishing a bed & breakfast took root. Both hailing from Pennsylvania, Dan and Hannah felt the desire to establish a permanent home base after a decade of global exploration, during which Dan served in the US Air Force, and Hannah, a skilled chef, aspired to channel her culinary expertise into a lasting business endeavor.

What initially began as a leisurely venture swiftly expanded beyond their initial intentions when they dismantled a wall, only to uncover a sagging joist above that had descended by a significant 4 inches! Recognizing the need for action, the couple promptly engaged a structural engineer, setting the stage for the official blueprint of The Inn’s renovation. Their commitment extended to the preservation of Arthur Fishburn’s historical legacy, a task they embraced wholeheartedly. Fortunately, most of the interior was not original to the home, aside for the joist, so those were preserved and can now be found as cross beams on the third floor of the house, complete with their wooden pegs, and hooks the Fishburn family used to cure meat on throughout winter.

With immense joy and pride, Dan and Hannah cordially invite you to enjoy the rich history of this iconic property and beautiful bed & breakfast. This charming establishment seamlessly combines modern amenities with luxurious offerings, promising an unparalleled romantic retreat that is truly one-of-a-kind.
