A Family Orchard with a Rich Farming History
Its origin began with a rich farming history dating back to 1843. Eventually, it blossomed into a business when, in 1914, Joseph C. Strite started the venture by planting a few fruit trees and vegetables. Joined by his son Earl, they expanded the farm and began selling produce door-to-door and in the city. In 1950, they opened the original market on their farm as demand for fresh produce grew. A more modern farmers’ market and bakery were established in 1994 as the farm expanded to a robust 300 acres. Thus started the incredible legacy that is still being carried on by generations today, making your visit part of something special.
The Indoor Market: Fruits, Vegetables, and Baked Goods Oh My!
Imagine yourself strolling through a farmers’ market on a fabulous fall day, breathing in the fresh country air. It’s an experience that’s hard to beat and one you can enjoy at Strites’ Orchard. Their store is filled with rows of freshly picked, sustainably grown fruits and vegetables, including popular choices like bushels of apples, pears, peaches, and tables piled high with green beans, tomatoes, and the eagerly awaited sweet corn, to name just a few. Their bakery offers a wide variety of tasty treats, such as pies, apple dumplings, bread, rolls, muffins, cookies, and donuts. They also sell local artisanal products like milk, eggs, jellies, cheese, and many other unique delights. One of our favorite take-home items is their incredible honey harvested from the apiary right on the property. You can taste the delicate notes of orchard blooms in every jar, and we love sharing it with you at The Inn on Church Road!

You can wander through the patch and choose one straight from the vine or select it from ones already picked inside the market.
While you’re visiting, it’s a good idea to stock up on their freshly pressed apple cider – a must-have for all your holiday celebrations. And who wouldn’t want to sample their apple cider slushy? It’s the perfect drink to wash down that freshly baked pumpkin donut. And if you’re feeling truly adventurous, you can end your visit by testing your navigation skills and wandering through their corn maze…but maybe pack an extra donut to eat along the way!

They also have instructions and tips on when to arrive and where to check in for supplies and directions to the designated field. While the market is open seven days a week, the hours for the U-Pick are different, so please make sure to plan accordingly. If you are going to be wandering through the orchard, flower fields, or corn maze, it’s probably best to wear sturdy shoes or sneakers. You can also call them directly for additional details and harvesting conditions.
