Hershey Gardens is a romantic favorite in every season. Take your time wandering through 23 acres of blooming beauty, from the historic rose garden in summer to vibrant foliage in the fall. In winter or early spring, the Butterfly Atrium provides a magical, tropical escape with hundreds of butterflies, soft lighting, and warmth making it an unexpectedly dreamy date.
2. Wine Tasting for two
Sip and stroll through the vines together at one of Hershey’s nearby wineries.
Close By: Cassel Vineyards offers a laid-back, scenic setting in nearby Hummelstown, with outdoor seating, live music on weekends, and tastings of their estate-grown wines, including refreshing whites and bold reds. Don’t miss their award-winning Cabernet Franc or the popular Red Silks rosé.
Worth the Drive: For a truly exceptional wine experience, head to Waltz Vineyards, about 20 minutes away in Manheim. This family-owned estate winery is the best in the area, known for their beautifully crafted wines and stunning hilltop views overlooking the vineyards. Their tasting room offers flights of their estate-grown varieties, including elegant Chardonnays, rich Cabernet Francs, and their signature dessert wines. On weekends, settle into their outdoor seating area with a bottle, a cheese and pretzel board, and sweeping countryside views.

Worth the Drive: Just a short drive away (about 27 minutes), Fort Hunter Park offers grassy lawns, riverfront seating along the Susquehanna River, and views that glow golden at sunset. Pack a picnic spread of artisan cheeses, fresh bread, and local provisions from Radish & Rye Food Hub for an elevated outdoor meal.
5. Chocolate Lovers’ Dream: The Ultimate Cocoa Date
We know we said it’s not all about the chocolate, but no date night in Hershey is complete without a little cocoa indulgence. Start at Hershey’s Chocolate World, where you can hop on the iconic chocolate tour ride, create your own custom candy bar, or join the interactive Chocolate Tasting Experience. Then, head to The Hershey Story Museum for a hands-on Chocolate Lab class where you can pour, decorate, and taste your way through a 45-minute chocolate-making adventure. The menu leans upscale comfort food with crispy Kung-Pao fried Brussels sprouts, bison burgers, and coffee-rubbed short rib pot roast. Vegetarian and gluten-free diners will also find thoughtful options here.
Worth the Drive: For our absolute favorite restaurant in the area, make the trip to note. bistro & winebar in Harrisburg. This tiny, intimate spot feels like dining in someone’s beautifully appointed living room: cozy, welcoming, and unmistakably special. Chef Stevie creates everything from scratch using local ingredients, crafting a French-inspired menu with both small and full-sized plates that change with the seasons. The wine list is exceptional, with carefully chosen selections that pair beautifully with each dish. Dim lighting and attentive service create an atmosphere that’s romantic without being overly formal, and when the check arrives, you can leave a little note about your experience (hence the name!). Make sure to reserve ahead of time if you can as they have very limited seating.
